Il mio non è un flusso di lavoro analogico, piuttosto che partire con la fotografia analogica, parto da una foto digitale che trasformo in negativo, stampata su acetato e la impressiono su carta precedentemente sensibilizzata da me con un antica tecnica
nei primi anni del 1840 Sir John Herschel (1792-1871) (famoso per il suo lavoro astronomico), colui che coniò la parola Fotografia, era uno tra gli scienziati e hobbisti di chimica che sperimentò con la fotografia in un’epoca in cui non esisteva una tecnica standard in tutto il mondo, infatti diverse persone stavano inventando la loro versione.
Herschel iniziò a sperimentare con i sali di ferro scoprendo che erano sensibili alla luce e fece una serie di test pubblicati per la prima volta nelle transazioni filosofiche della Royal Society di Londra nel 1842 dove abbiamo la prima menzione del cianotipo

Herschel presenta la Cianotipia che mettendo insieme il citrato ferrico di ammonio (sale di ferro) e il ferrocianuro di potassio e sviluppata solo con acqua dava questa bellissima e unica immagine dai toni blu ciano
Van Dick
Oggi si ritiene che questa tecnica prenda il nome dalle sfumature di colore utilizzate nei dipinti di Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641)
c’è qualche indecisione su chi abbia trovato questa tecnica la prima volta: Robert Hunt uno scienziato inglese (1807-1887) oppure John Herschel lo stesso del Cianotipo mentre sperimenta con i suoi sali di ferro
alla base di anche questa tecnica
recuperare questa tecnica antica e combinarla con la fotografia moderna mi dà la capacità di rallentare il processo, in questo mondo in rapido movimento in cui viviamo, per trasformare il risultato finale in qualcosa di unico e mozzafiato

Herschel started experimenting with iron salts discovering that they where light sensitive he made a series of tests first published in the book Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society London in 1842 here we have the first mention of Cyanotipe

Herschel presents Cyanotipe photography that putting together ferric ammonium citrate (Iron Salt), and potassium ferricyanide and developed only with water gave this beautiful and unique blue cyan toned image

Today, its believed that this technique is named after shade’s of color used in the paintings by Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641)

recovering this ancient technique, and combining it with modern photography gives me the ability to slow down the process in this fast-moving world we live in. Transforming the final result into something unique and breathtaking
